Apply to be a 2019 NextGen Citizenship Fellow!
NextGen Citizenship Series
Are you interested in exploring issues surrounding social impact, service, and civic engagement? Are you interested in exploring how our ideas of citizenship can evolve to be more inclusive and impactful in a time when our society is deeply divided? Do you want to think critically about what it means to be an engaged citizen and impactful leader in today’s society?
What is it?
The Next Generation Citizenship Program is a leadership initiative sponsored by The Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students and Whig-Clio at Princeton that focuses on citizenship, values-based decision making, social impact, and service. Eight students, called “NextGen Fellows," will be selected to participate in on-campus workshops that focus on engaging students with reflection, active listening, and empathy while thinking about ways to come up with creative and impactful solutions to pressing societal issues. The program includes a trip to Washington, DC, where students will meet with leaders in both the public and private sectors to learn more about the different perspectives and efforts regarding citizenship, social impact, and civic engagement. Ultimately, the program encourages students to think deeply and critically about what it means to be engaged citizens and ethical leaders in today’s society.
