
The Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students has appointed Jelani Johnson as the inaugural Assistant Dean for Student Programming. He officially joined the ODUS staff on Monday, August 7th.
Dean Johnson has held positions of increasing responsibility throughout his 14-year career in education, most recently serving as the interim director of student activities at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. At Amherst College, he provided strategic and fiduciary direction for the Office of Student Activities; managed the Keefe Student Center; and guided the work of more than 140 student organizations, including student government and the campus activities board. Prior to joining Amherst College, Dean Johnson held roles in residential life and student engagement at University of Michigan and Pennsylvania State University. His experience aligns with the responsibilities of the assistant dean for student programming position. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and his Master of Science in Education from Brooklyn College.
