ODUS Arts congratulates Mariachi Los Tigres de Princeton for leading the way in providing an awareness of culture and differences that make up the “orange bubble”. During the September Princeton City Council's meeting, Marachi Los Tigres de Princeton was nominated for an award of recognition while also being a part of the announcing of the official proclamation of Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month which will take place September 15th - October 15th.
After laying the foundation to have a meeting with a member of Princeton's City Council last Spring around city's Day of the Dead event this Fall, Mariachi Los Tigres de Princeton was then nominated for the Award of Recognition. The group received this recognition at the City Council meeting where they were honored as the first official mariachi ensemble on campus.
In an email, President and Founder Esteban Gonzalez stated that “I’m super happy to have brought this tradition here to the Princeton community as it not only celebrates culture but it also brings people together over a shared platform of music,” President and Founder Esteban Gonzalez ’26 told the council upon accepting the award. “I hope to continue sharing this music with the community and building more bonds with more people.”
Mariachi Los Tigres de Princeton is one of the newest groups formed in ODUS Arts and the Performing Arts Council. ODUS Arts is proud of all that Mariachi Los Tigres de Princeton has already accomplished in their nascency, and we look forward to seeing them at this year's Day of the Dead Community Celebration at Princeton Shopping Center on Novemeber 2.
