Monica Fung-Janardhan has been named the next Assistant Dean for Student Life in Rockefeller College.
Prior to arriving to Princeton, Dean Fung-Janardhan served as the associate director in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Champlain College in Burlington, VT. In that capacity, she designed and hosted numerous educational programs, offered training modules, mentored student leaders, and worked closely with other institutional partners to support and provide services to underrepresented students.
Prior to her work in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, she served as an area coordinator in the Office of Housing and Residential Life at Champlain College, overseeing the well-being of 350 students in a number of residence halls. In this position, she selected, trained, and supervised resident advisers, and oversaw programming, budgeting, and community-building. Additionally, Dean Fung-Janardhan was a member of the Care Team, participating in the on-call rotation, responding to emergencies, and assisting in the management of crises. She also served as a conduct hearing officer, adjudicating community standards violations. Her experience is strengthened by numerous examples of her professional service on task forces, councils, and committees, and through her continuing professional education.
Monica received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Rutgers University and her Master of Science in Education from Indiana University. Most recently, she received a Master of Business Administration from Champlain College.
As the assistant dean for student life, Dean Fung-Janardhan will coordinate efforts to assist the college's students around health and wellness issues; serve as the liaison between the student, their family, academic deans, and other relevant Campus Life offices; uphold expectations for good conduct and citizenship through conflict resolution, investigating and adjudicating disciplinary issues, and helping students to understand the value of living in a diverse community; oversee the Residential College Adviser program within the college; and plan, implement, and support non-academic educational and social programming by advising the College Council and other student leaders.
