Bio/Description

Dean Deas works closely with student organizations, and oversees the development, implementation, and assessment of policies and systems that guide their work.  Dean Deas also facilitates the expansion, and strengthening of both existing and new programs focused on developing student leadership, and engaging the greater University community in efforts to educate students about leadership development as an integral part of Princeton’s liberal arts education.  He is also charged with identifying trends in student life and developing strategies to ensure that Princeton’s student organizations are aligned with larger trends across higher education. Dean Deas is the primary advisor to the senior class government, coordinates the annual Class Day ceremony, and also leads the Vote100 program. 

Ian D. Deas is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated from Winthrop University with a B.S. in Biology and served as the student trustee and student body president. While at Winthrop, he recognized his passion for higher education and subsequently pursued a M.S.Ed. in Higher Education from University of Pennsylvania as a Roberts Family Named Scholar and a Community Leadership Award winner. In his free time, Ian enjoys playing basketball, singing, and traveling.
