Michelle Smith serves as the Assistant Dean for Student Life (ADSL) for Forbes College. In this capacity, she is the primary staff member within the residential college responsible for supporting and enhancing the undergraduate residential and extracurricular experience of students from all four years residing in or affiliated with that college. Dean Smith coordinates efforts to assist the college's students around health and wellness issues and serves as the liaison between the student, his or her family, academic deans, and other relevant Campus Life offices; upholds expectations for good conduct and citizenship through conflict resolution, investigating and adjudicating disciplinary issues, and helping students to understand the value of living in a diverse community; oversees the Residential College Adviser program within the college; and plans, implements, and supports non-academic educational and social programming by advising the College Council and other student leaders.
Michelle earned her B.A. in Communication at the State University of New York at Oswego and her M.S. Ed. at Hofstra University. Prior to Princeton, she served in various student-centered positions at the State University of New York at Maritime College. While she is an advocate and educator for all students, her life’s work is providing equity in education for low-income and first-generation students. She is dedicated to creating a campus life experience that is rooted in inclusivity, education, and the creation of life-long friendships.
