Spread the Word
Student Organizations are encouraged to share their events across campus. Students have many options to share and promote their organization and events. Please note that student organizations are open to all students regardless of identity; for additional information, please see Organization Policies.
Review the following resources to promote your student organization events.
Posters
Posters and flyers are a cheap and an easy way to get the word out about your event to a mass audience. Here are some rules, regulations, and best practices for postering on campus.
- Approved Locations to Post Flyers Bulletin boards in dorm entryways and elsewhere on campus, dining halls, academic and administration buildings, outdoor kiosks, and lampposts.
- DO NOT Post Flyers On buildings, chain link fences, wood paneling, benches, sidewalks, roadways, the natural landscape (i.e., trees and grass), and any other location not included on the list above. For more information, please see Rights, Rules, Responsibilities sections 1.2.4 and 2.2.1
- Chalking and Tape The use of chalk and tape applied to University grounds and walkways is prohibited.
- Contact Information While not required, individuals, groups, and student organizations are highly encouraged to include contact information on all posters. The contact information should include the sponsoring student or group’s name, phone number and/or an email address.
- Distribution of Written Materials Inclusion of the name, telephone number, and/or email address of the University sponsoring organization or individual member of the University community on material resembling petitions, posters, leaflets distributed on campus, including materials disseminated using campus information technology resources or University internet access is encouraged, since such attribution promotes and facilitates civility as well as vigorous debate in the academic community. Anonymous public postings without sponsorship of a registered University organization or individual shall be removed or deleted if a complaint by a member of the University is lodged with the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students or the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School. For more information please see Rights, Rules, and Responsibilities 1.2.4
- Open to all: Posters and flyers promoting an event or program must include the following language “This event/program is open to all Princeton University students regardless of identity.”
- Compliance Please note that groups who do not comply with these rules may be reported to ODUS.

Area schools, churches and nursing homes are great places to go if you want to have members of the community attend the event.
